Southampton announce quick-fire signings of Bashford and Brazil

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Saints this evening.

Bashford has spent her entire senior career to date with The Addicks. The midfielder broke through into the South East Londoners’ senior team in 2022 and she has continued to develop with first team minutes. Bashford is very much an exciting talent for the future.

Experienced attacker Brazil spent last season with Charlton Athletic and was able to prove her fitness after long-term injury. She won the club’s Player of the Year award and Player’s Player of the Year award. Brazil caught the eye after netting eight goals for The Addicks and providing a number of assists.

Commenting on her move to St Mary’s Stadium, Bashford said “I’d say I’m a very hard-working midfielder, I’ll get up, box-to-box, and put a lot of energy into the team and just do as much as I can to win games.

“I can’t wait to see [the fans] and I’m really excited for our first game to meet everyone and feel the atmosphere at St Mary’s.”

Fellow new signing Brazil added “I played at St Mary’s in the last game of the season and I thought ‘this is an incredible stadium’, and it’s probably by far the best in the WSL2 and competes with a lot of the WSL.

“I thought I’d be really interested to see what the facilities were like at the training ground and see what the club’s prospects were, and it all kind of aligned as we continued the conversations.

“I’m really excited to get going, meet the girls, the staff, and also meet the fans. It should be a really exciting season.”

Bashford and Brazil are Southampton’s third and fourth summer signings.
