Sophie Cunningham Had Complaints About the Indiana Fever After Thursday’s Loss

Sophie Cunningham and the Indiana Fever were handed their eighth loss of the 2025 WNBA season, falling to the Los Angeles Sparks 85-75 on Thursday night.

To be fair, the Fever were without All-WNBA point guard Caitlin Clark, who suffered a groin injury in Tuesday's win over the Storm. This latest injury has left her status for Friday's game uncertain as well.

Still, the Fever found themselves up by almost ten heading into the fourth quarter. However, the Sparks outscored them 35-17 in the final 10 minutes, ultimately securing the win.

The Fever faced similar issues against the Sparks as they did in their previous two losses. They held a lead in the fourth quarter but failed to close it out, including two second-half collapses after double-digit leads.

And Cunningham has taken notice of these recurring problems.

After the loss, Cunningham and newly re-signed Aari McDonald took to the podium for a postgame press conference. The former Phoenix Mercury guard proceeded to vent her frustrations with her team, acknowledging numerous issues that need resolving.

“Man, I think we’re trying to figure it out," Cunningham said. "You’re right, we’ve had double-digit leads going into the fourth, and then we just let it slip. For us, we got to be better from top to bottom. We have to have better energy, better focus. And at the end of the day, we’ve shown that we can do it. It’s all about consistency. We’re trying to give each other grace and patience, but at some point, you got to dig in and say enough is enough.”

Cunningham finished the night with 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting, two rebounds and four steals in 27 minutes off the bench.

The Fever now await the final status of Clark for their next matchup Friday night on the road against the Dallas Wings.
