Rob Manfred Reveals Red Sox Level of Interest in Hosting All-Star Game

With the 2025 Major League Baseball All-Star festivities going on over the past two days, some believe that the Boston Red Sox are looking to host them in the near future.

The Red Sox haven’t hosted an All-Star Game since 1999, and considering Fenway Park is arguably the best in Major League Baseball, and Boston is a great city to be in, especially in the summertime, it raises the question of when it could happen.

According to a recent report, Rob Manfred noted that the Red Sox have shown a ton of interest in hosting the All-Star Game, adding that Fenway is a great venue.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred before game three of the NLCS for the 2024 MLB playoffs at Citi Field.

“Rob Manfred says the Red Sox have shown avid interest in bringing the All-Star Game back to Fenway, which he called ‘a great venue,” The Boston Globe’s Pete Abraham wrote on BlueSky. “That Boston hasn’t had the game since 1999 plays in the city’s favor, Manfred said.”

Obviously, Manfred wouldn’t come out and suggest that Fenway is anything less than that, but that also doesn’t mean that the Red Sox will have an opportunity to host the All-Star Game anytime in the near future.

On the flip side of that, it’s also fair to wonder when the Red Sox will, as Fenway is such a historic park that it needs to get the recognition it deserves.

For Boston, it’s also worth noting that it has been one of the better teams in Major League Baseball over the past few years, with multiple World Series titles since it last hosted the event.
