Now that the offseason has officially begun for the Boston Red Sox, they need to evaluate their current roster before considering outside moves. One of those in-house decisions is how to bring back superstar Trevor Story, who has an opt-out.
However, it might not be that hard to keep Story in Boston. In an interview, Story stated he doesn't really think about his opt-out and wants to stay in Boston.

"It’s not at the top of mind. I’m not gonna speak on that right now. But I came here to be here for a long time,” Story said.
As of now, Story can opt out for five million, or he can opt in for two more years at $25 million per season.
Story has also indirectly indicated that he wants to stay when answering questions about his teammate, Alex Bregman’s, possible free agency. He used “we” and “us” a lot, and ended with hoping “we”, being the Sox, can keep Bregman for a long time.
The Sox really need Story’s bat and glove. This season, Story slashed .263/.308/.433/.741/ and led the team with 25 home runs and 96 RBI. He also swiped 31 bases and played in 157 games, which is more than his last three seasons combined.
Hopefully, Story just opts into his contract, and the Sox can move on to solving their other problems.
