Rangers Make Major Announcement About Key Offseason Trade Addition After Athletics Game

As of recently, the Texas Rangers haven't been finding as much success as they did at the beginning of the season.

Star shortstop Corey Seager went down with hamstring strain on April 22 that forced him to be placed on the 10-day injured list.

At that point in time, the Rangers were looking like one of the best teams in baseball while playing at home and carried a record of 14-9.

Since then, their record has plummeted, only winning two of their next nine games and are currently sitting at fourth place in the AL West with a record of 16-16.

Amid growing concern within the organization, manager Bruce Bochy and the Rangers thought it was the right time to make changes to their lineup.

Jake Burger gets demoted to Triple-A Round Rock

As the team continues to struggle, manager Bochy has decided it's time to look for a new answer at first base.

Jake Burger, the current first baseman, hasn't lived up to expectations after the Rangers acquired him via trade in late 2024. and has been sent down to Triple-A.

His numbers include a .190 batting average, .231 on-base percentage and a .561 OPS through his first 30 games.

The move will promote 27-year-old Blaine Crim to the major leagues.

Crim has a .313 batting average, .365 on-base percentage and .930 OPS while hitting seven home runs and bringing in 25 RBIs in 28 games for the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate.

According to The Athletic's senior writer Ken Rosenthal, the plan for Burger is to "reset and return soon" to the Rangers.

As a return will be expected for Jake Burger, it will be worth to note how he does with the Round Rock Express.

Burger's struggles have been a key reason in the Rangers' slide in the standings, and his replacement will be a major opportunity for Crim.

This will be Crim's first shot in the big leagues after being drafted in 2019.
