Nuggets Make Unfortunate NBA History During Game 4 vs. Thunder

The Denver Nuggets struggled mightily during Game 4 vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Nuggets got off to a sluggish start to the game, scoring just eight points in the first quarter.

Heading into Game 4, the Nuggets held a 2-1 series lead in the Western Conference Semifinals against the overall No. 1 seed in this year's playoffs. With the two leading candidates for NBA MVP facing off, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic, offensive fireworks were expected every night.

While this series has seen high scoring affairs, Sunday's game was an absolute struggle for both teams.

The Nuggets, however, would fall to the Thunder 92-87, allowing the Thunder to tie this series at two games each.

In the process, the Nuggets made unfortunate NBA history. During Game 4, the Nuggets couldn't find their shooting range in the first quarter. This was in large part due to the struggles they encountered from 3-point distance.

As per @StatMamba, the Nuggets finished the first quarter 0-for-14 from 3-point range, tying the NBA playoffs record set by the Houston Rockets in 2018.

The Nuggets wouldn't make their first 3-point attempt until 4:24 left in the second quarter when Russell Westbrook nailed a 24-foot jump shot. The Nuggets would go on to shoot 11-for-45 from 3-point range (24.4%), ironically the same percentage as the Thunder (10-for-41).

The team the Nuggets tied during Sunday's inept shooting performance, the 2018 Rockets, would miss 27 consecutive 3-point attempts against the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals. This is the record for most consecutive 3-point misses in NBA playoff history.
