It's still early, but Notre Dame football is one of the biggest disappointments in the country just months after appearing in the College Football Playoff (CFP) national championship.
The Fighting Irish fell 27-24 against Miami to open the season before falling 41-40 to Texas A&M at home on Saturday night. They fell from their preseason ranking of No. 6 to No. 8 after Week 1 and then to No. 24 following Saturday's loss.
On the bright side, Notre Dame does not have any ranked opponents left on the schedule at the moment, and the two programs they lost to are now top-10 squads. The Hurricanes are No. 4 and the Aggies are No. 10. If those programs keep winning and the Irish bounce back, they'll be more attractive to the CFP committee at the end of the year.
Additionally, there was an under-the-radar development for Notre Dame on Saturday. Class of 2027 cornerback Joshua Dobson visited campus and posted a glowing review on his social media.
"Had an amazing visit at the University of Notre Dame, can’t wait to get back!!!" he said.

Joshua Dobson would add athleticism to Notre Dame defense
Dobson is the No. 7 overall recruit and No. 2 cornerback in his class, via 247Sports. The 6-foot-1-inch, 175-pounder out of South Carolina was an All-State and All-Region selection as a sophomore last season.
Dobson, who also runs track and field, was a state qualifier in both the 200 and 400-yard dashes in 2023. He placed fourth in the 400 at South Carolina's AAAA meet.
Dobson tallied 48 tackles, 10 pass breakups, and three interceptions last year and is rated a five-star recruit on the 247Sports Composite. He still has two years of high school left, but the Irish could use his talent and athleticism once he's ready. They've given up a combined 67 points and 565 passing yards over their two games thus far.
However, Notre Dame isn't the only suitor for Dobson. Michigan offered him a scholarship over the summer, and he visited Florida State, Duke, Clemson, and Georgia shortly before. The Irish will have to compete with those schools and more, but they'll be attractive if they turn their season around.
Up next for Notre Dame is a home date with Purdue in Week 4.
