Coming off a 5-6 season in 2024, Forney (Texas) is looking to reach new heights this fall at 6A, its new classification. Its offensive attack will revolve around one of the top senior running backs in the nation.
Javian Osborne rushed for 1,085 yards last season. He’s looking to eclipse that number in his final prep campaign, and if his second game of the year is any indication, that will come to fruition.
In a 38-21 win over A&M Consolidated last Friday, Osborne rushed for 194 yards and a whopping four touchdowns in just 20 carries. The Notre Dame commit dominated as Forney improved to 2-0 on the year.
Through two games, he’s already up to 414 yards and six scores. He tallied 24 touchdowns a season ago. The Jackrabbits now rank as the No. 37 team in Texas, per the Massey Ratings.
The emergence of the 5-foot-8.5, 200-pounder on a national scale is no surprise. He’s eclipsed 1,000 yards in each of his first three years at Forney. He really turned heads as a sophomore in 2023, tallying over 2,200 yards and 39 TDs at 5A. Now facing stiffer competition, he’s still shining.
Forney opened the season with a 37-34 win over Lake Highlands before taking down A&M Consolidated. Its first big test comes this Friday at top-25 Waxahachie.
Osborne is the No. 101 overall prospect and No. 9 RB in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 16 player in Texas.
He committed to Notre Dame on May 3, choosing the Fighting Irish over Michigan in a hotly-contested recruitment. He remains locked in with Marcus Freeman and Co. and is one half of a dynamic blue-chip RB duo alongside Jonaz Walton.
“The people there,” Osborne told Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong about his decision. “I feel like the people around campus and what Notre Dame has in the locker room, they have great people that have great mindsets. When you walk around campus you see that everybody has their head on straight. It’s a different level of college.”
