Panthers seeing athleticism often runs in the family for two-time NFL MVP
The Carolina Panthers added Graham Walker for a tryout at rookie minicamp over the weekend. The half-brother of NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes is working hard to carve out his own path in professional football. The two athletes share the same father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., a former MLB pitcher who played for six different teams throughout his baseball career.
After going undrafted, Walker earned a tryout with the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this month, though he was not signed. While he didn’t immediately land a contract with the Panthers, the door isn’t closed. With Carolina heading toward training camp, the team could look to add depth to its tight end group, which currently includes Ja'Tavion Sanders, Tommy Tremble, James Mitchell, Mitchell Evans, and Dominique Dafney.
Walker’s college career is an intriguing one. He spent three productive seasons at Brown University, where he totaled 125 receptions for 1,465 yards and 15 touchdowns. His standout play earned him All-American recognition from HERO Sports. He transferred to Rice University for his final collegiate season, where he caught 24 passes for 252 yards in 2024.
At 23, Walker is still developing, but his past production make him a player to watch. He was one of over 40 players welcomed by the Panthers to work out. With the name recognition that comes from being Patrick Mahomes’ brother, he’ll continue to draw interest as he chases his NFL dream.
