Football
Dax Wankier, Cedar City (Sr.)
For the first time since 2010, Cedar’s football program is off to a 4-0 start — and the play of linebacker Dax Wankier is a big reason why.
Wankier has tallied 40 total tackles this season in wins against Bear River, Pine View, Dixie and Logan. Last week he finished with 13 tackles in the win against Logan.
The week before, he sealed Cedar’s first win at Dixie since 2010 with a late-game interception.
“Dax has been a rock in our defense and program this season. He consistently shows up to practice with a great attitude and gives his best effort, and in turn requires that his teammates give their best effort as well. Dax has made key plays in every game this season and we are fortunate to have him in our program,” said Cedar coach Tye Hiatt.
Girls Volleyball
Lily Grant, Skyridge (Sr.)
Skyridge senior Lily Grant was instrumental in leading Skyridge to a 6-0 record last week and the Gold Bracket title at the stacked 36-team UVU Invitational.
The setter finished the week with 236 assists, 24 aces, 67 digs and 20 kills.
“I’ve been getting on Lily the past couple weeks on having her make better setting choices so we can open up our offense, and I saw her apply that this week and weekend. She really helped get one-on-ones for our hitters and created some good opportunities for them to score,” said Skyridge coach Taylor Hifo.
“I’ve also been challenging her to be more effective offensively with her dump, and she found great ways to score this week. She’s a smaller setter running a 5-1, but she was still able to challenge some really big hitters on the block. I love that she’s working hard and taking what I’m trying to teach her and applying it to her craft.”

Kambry Dalton, Bonneville (Jr.)
Kambry Dalton vaulted to the 5A scoring lead last week with an impressive four-goal outburst.
The junior scored all four goals in a 4-1 win over Clearfield, bumping her season total up to 14 goals on the season.
She’s already soared past the eight goals she scored as a sophomore a year ago.
“Kambry is an amazing player and leader. She helps set the tone with her teammates by always giving 110% in practice and games. Kambry treats her teammates and coaches with respect all of the time and helps uplift everyone around her,” said Bonneville coach Brady Nicholls. “Kambry holds herself to a high standard and is always pushing herself to be better. She is a joy to coach and someone I can always lean on.”
Bonneville is 7-3 on the season, with Dalton scoring in eight of those 10 games.
Boys Cross Country
Kyle Chipman, Mountain View (Jr.)
Fresh off his runner-up finish at the Timpanogos Invite two weeks ago, Mountain View junior Kyle Chipman won the Park City Invite AM race last weekend in another outstanding performance.
Chipman won with a time of 15:05.9, beating Lehi’s Miles Braithwaite by five seconds and besting a field of 226 runners.
“Kyle is really coming into himself as a runner. He has shown trust and courage in what he’s been training to accomplish. After one of our tougher workouts, he said he felt like he had ‘unlocked’ a new level of work, and it has shown in his performances since,” said Mountain View coach Mike Strauss. “It showed in his finish at the Timpanogos Invitational where he ran the second-fastest time of the day and then again at the Park City race running the fastest time of the day at 15:05. Kyle has great momentum right now, it’ll be a fun year.”
As a sophomore last season, Chipman finished in sixth place at the 4A state meet and was the highest-placing sophomore or freshman.
Girls Cross Country
Sadie Moore, North Summit (Jr.)
North Summit’s Sadie Moore has made a big jump this season, including a win last weekend at the North Sevier Red Hill Run.
Moore finished first out of 37 runners, winning with a time of 20:58.3 to edge teammate Audrey Moore by 0.5 seconds.
“Sadie has demonstrated a willingness to go the extra mile. When we have workouts, she is always willing to do more. She has improved tremendously from last year and will be one of our top runners,” said North Summit coach Dave Peck. “She loves to lead on the workouts and has set a very good example for the younger runners. She is a very positive person and nothing is too hard for her to complete to the best of her ability. She has some outside interests, but will always make time to complete the workouts prescribed. We are looking forward to some great runs this season.”
Moore finished in 16th place at state last season, but this season she has her eye on a top-10 finish.
Girls Tennis
Quincy McConkie, Fremont (Sr.)
A big part of Fremont’s undefeated first half of the season has been the player of first singles standout Quincy McConkie.
McConkie is 13-2 in all her matches this season, which has helped Fremont to an 8-0 overall record.
“She is a super intelligent player with a high tennis IQ looking for different ways to win her opponent based on their style of play. She has been a joy to coach,” said Fremont coach Steven Stanger.
A year ago McConkie qualified for the 6A first singles state tournament and advanced to the Round of 16. She has her eyes on a deeper tournament run later this year.
“Quincy is a great tennis player but is an even better person and a tremendous leader on our team. She was unanimously voted as captain by her peers, has been instrumental in welcoming the underclassmen to the team and has set a great example for them in regard to sportsmanship in matches and with her tone and work rate at practice,” Stanger said.
Boys Golf
Jaxon Erickson, Riverton (Sr.)
Jaxon Erickson continued his great 2025 fall golf season last week as he tied Herriman’s Will Anderson for first in a Region 3 meet at Talon’s Cove with a 70.
For the season, Erickson is maintaining a 68.7 scoring average in Region 3, and leads Herriman’s Ian Miyasaki by over a stroke.
As a junior last season, Erickson tied for 10th at the 6A state championships with a 4-under 140.
Two weeks ago at the Eddie Hogan Cup Cup matches in Oregon, Erickson was on the team that represented Utah along with Mack Herzog, Ryder Huish and Jace Benson.
Baseball
Hunter Robins, Wayne (Sr.)
Wins have been a bit tough to come by for Wayne this season, but senior catcher Hunter Robins has played great throughout as he leads the team with a .421 batting average with zero errors defensively behind the plate.
Last week, in a loss to Piute, he hit .750 with three RBIs.
“Respect all, fear none. This is what makes him a key member of the team. He respects those he plays but never fears them. He plays the same whether it’s the best team in the state or someone we beat by 10-plus runs,” said Wayne coach Jaden Ellett.
