Luuk de Jong trains at PSV: future still uncertain

As per Voetbal International, Luuk de Jong (34) still doesn’t know where his future lies. The striker is now training individually with PSV again, but that doesn’t mean that an international adventure is off the table.

Last week, Peter Bosz said that De Jong was welcome to train with the group from the start of pre-season, despite his contract expiring on July 1st. However, De Jong declined that offer to avoid raising any false expectations. He can still sign a new contract with PSV, who currently only have one striker in the not-yet-fit Ricardo Pepi.

Bosz reportedly wants clarity from De Jong in the near future on whether he will become the second striker in the squad. Meanwhile, PSV are considering other options and reserves the right to switch to another option if one becomes available.

PSV are strengthening its squad in other positions. Ruben van Bommel (20) will undergo a medical on Wednesday, and Yarek Gasiorowski (20) from Valencia is also in the Netherlands to finalise his move. Matej Kovar (25) will become one of three goalkeepers in the Eindhoven club’s squad, joining from Bayer Leverkusen.
