Lewis Hamilton cut a somber figure over team radio after crossing the line P4 at the British GP, telling his Ferrari crew and the thousands of passionate fans at Silverstone how painful it was to miss out on a podium on home soil.
“Well done mate, that was pretty bad overall,” Hamilton said, his voice heavy with disappointment. “So much opportunity today was missed… yeah… thank you and thank you for continuing to push, and thank you to this mega crowd here. Sorry I couldn't bring it home.”
The crowd, drenched in British flags and hope, had arrived at Silverstone dreaming of a Hamilton fairytale. Now in his first season with Ferrari, the seven-time world champion was desperate to deliver.
Starting from P5, Hamilton showed flashes of brilliance. But on the wrong tires, he struggled for grip and ultimately slipped back.
It was another reminder of just how challenging this Ferrari chapter has been for Hamilton. Despite taking a sprint win earlier this season, he remains without a Grand Prix victory in 2025 — still hunting that elusive eighth world title that would forever set him apart.
With the championship moving next to Belgium, Hamilton knows that he might not score a win this season. He has already asked his team to focus on the development of next eyar’s car.
For now, all he could do was apologize to the roaring Silverstone faithful who stood by him every lap.
