Kilsby Williams launches new division

Accountancy firm Kilsby Williams has launched a new service specialising in forensic accounting and expert witness support.

The development follows the recruitment of Chris Hatcher, who brings three decades of expertise from two regional firms.

Kilsby Williams managing partner Simon Tee said: “We have identified a gap in the market for this service as many competitor firms have withdrawn their services.

“This has left a real lack of experience in the market. Our team will fill that gap and the division will enhance the breadth of services offered by our firm.”

The newly formed division will be jointly managed by Hatcher and current partner Huw Sheppard.

Sheppard is experienced in delivering expert witness valuations, which complements Hatcher’s proficiency in forensic accounting, the company said.

Hatcher is a chartered accountant, having completed his training and qualification with a predecessor firm of PwC.

His knowledge encompasses a wide array of businesses, from small and medium-sized enterprises to larger organisations, and he holds both audit and probate licences.

In addition to his professional credentials, Hatcher is also affiliated with the Academy of Experts, the Expert Witness Institute, and is an associate member of Resolution.

Hatcher said: “Accountancy firms have traditionally undertaken expert witness valuation work in areas such as matrimonial disputes.

“There is an increasing demand for this, but also for other services in fields such as shareholder and partnership disputes, professional negligence actions, personal injury and business loss claims, contractual disputes and tax related matters, with advisory rather than expert reports often being required.”

Founded in 1991, Kilsby Williams provides services to clients in south Wales and has a presence across the UK and internationally. The firm serves a varied clientele, from individual traders to publicly listed corporations.
