Kevin Durant Trade Shakes Up 2026 NBA Finals Odds

The 2024-2025 NBA season ended with a bang on Sunday as the Oklahoma City Thunder won the 2025 NBA Finals with a 103-91 victory over the Indiana Pacers in Game 7.

That wasn't all. The massive day in The Association began with the report of a blockbuster trade involving Kevin Durant — which he learned about in real time along with the rest of the basketball world.

The Phoenix Suns are reportedly sending the two-time NBA Finals MVP to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks.

It is never too early to start thinking about next season. As soon as the Thunder took their seat on the throne, odds for the 2026 NBA Finals emerged, showing what the oddsmakers think about their new threat in the Western Conference.

The Thunder are still the clear favorites with +240 title odds, per DraftKings. Led by 2025 NBA MVP and Finals MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder have a bright future ahead after proving themselves deserving champions in 2025.

After that, things get interesting. Postseason injuries to Eastern Conference stars like Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton, Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and Milwaukee Bucks guard Damian Lillard leave the door open for the New York Knicks (+750) and the Cleveland Cavaliers (+900) to be the title favorites from the East.

As for Durant and the Rockets, who were the No. 2 seed in the West before bowing out to the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs, DraftKings is buying the early hype.

Houston (+750) is tied with New York as the second favorite behind Oklahoma City, but that is a stronger show of faith in the Rockets given that they would likely have to get through the Thunder to win a championship.

With a potential starting lineup of Durant, Fred VanVleet, Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith Jr. and Alperen Sengun under head coach Ime Udoka, the Rockets take the honor of the main threat to an Oklahoma City repeat next season.
