Jonathan Kuminga Receives Head-Turning Outlook for Future With Warriors

The Golden State Warriors were eliminated from playoff contention on Wednesday night in Game 5 against the Minnesota Timberwolves. All fans can do at this point in time is wonder what could have been had Stephen Curry not gone down with a hamstring injury.

In Game 1, the Warriors were able to pull off a big road win. Curry played just 13 minutes in that game before going down with the injury.

Following the injury, Golden State never looked the same. It was clear that the Warriors were no match for the Timberwolves without their superstar point guard on the floor.

Jonathan Kuminga did his best to help keep Golden State in the series. He put together an eye-opening four-game stretch. He scored 18 points in Game 2, 30 points in Game 3, 23 points in Game 4, and 26 points in Game 5.

Despite those impressive numbers, Kuminga will enter the NBA offseason with major questions about his future with the Warriors. There is a strong belief that he could very well have played his final game with Golden State.

Jake Weinbach, an NBA analyst, shared a tough outlook for Kuminga.

"Jonathan Kuminga, a restricted free agent this summer, will most likely not return to the Warriors next season," he wrote on X. "Golden State may not have enough faith to offer him a long-term deal, and there will be other suitors willing to invest in the untapped potential of the 22-year-old."

Throughout the course of the 2024-25 NBA season, Kuminga played in 47 games and made 10 starts. He averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, while shooting 45.4% from the floor and 30.5% from 3-point range.

Should the Warriors make him available on the trade market, there would likely be a lot of teams interested in acquiring a 22-year-old two-way wing who played at an elite level in the playoffs.

Only time will tell, but fans will be waiting anxiously to find out what Golden State plans to do with the talented forward.
