Jon Scheyer, Duke Predicted To Land Another Elite 5-Star Recruit

With numerous key players departing for the 2025 NBA Draft, Jon Scheyer and the Duke Blue Devils have done a solid job rebuilding the team for 2025-26.

Duke has one of the best recruiting classes of 2025. It has added two five-star recruits and three within the top 25 (247 Sports), including Cameron and Cayden Boozer and Nikolas Khamenia.

Scheyer also added two players from the transfer portal, including Cedric Coward (Washington State) and Ifeanyi Ufochukwu (Rice). But Coward, who also declared for the draft while maintaining eligibility, has skyrocketed up draft boards and is leaning towards not returning to school.

However, Scheyer is trying to find a quick replacement for Coward and is inching closer to nabbing Italian five-star prospect Dame Sarr.

Sarr has been playing professionally in Spain since 2022 with FC Barcelona. However, the 18-year-old is very much considering going to college instead of remaining overseas.

The 6-foot-7, 190-pounder originally visited the Kansas Jayhawks on May 7 and received a crystal ball prediction from 247 Sports to commit to Bill Self's team.

However, in light of recent events for Duke, the Kansas prediction was removed, and on Thursday, three 247 Sports insiders, including Chad Lykins (The Devils Den), John Watson (The Devils Den) and R. Cory Smith (Pack Insider), now predict Sarr to join Duke.

Although Sarr isn't nationally ranked in most recruiting sites, the addition of the five-star could move the Blue Devils (3rd) past the Arizona Wildcats and Houston Cougars for the best class of 2025 (247 Sports).

In the 2024-25 Liga ACB, Sarr played in 12 games, averaged 5.8 points on 52.1% shooting and 42.8% from distance, 1.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists. If he elects to play for the Blue Devils, Scheyer could have a team that may contend for another spot in the Final Four.
