The Aaron Glenn/Justin Fields era for the New York Jets got off to the most "Jets" way possible in the 34-32 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Facing old friend (if you want to call him that) in Aaron Rodgers, the Jets somehow had more total yards, more first downs, more yards per play, went at 50 percent on third down, ran more plays, and had the ball for over nine more minutes than the Steelers...and still lost.
Because, of course, right?
But there was plenty to like in the Week 1 loss; the Jets still found a way to lose, with the offense only scoring on one of their four possessions in the fourth quarter.
For NFL.com's Eric Edholm, in his latest power rankings, the Jets come in at No. 27 thanks to the same issues that plagued them in previous seasons.
"Justin Fields didn't look great this preseason, which is one of the reasons his terrific showing against the Steelers was so surprising," Edholm writes. "The rushing production was expected; pinpoint efficiency isn’t nearly as common. Fields was stellar, leading six scoring drives (four TDs) but the Jets -- stop me if you’ve heard this one before -- found a way to lose.
"There was a heavy dose of encouraging but still too many of the same old issues in the opener."

Plenty of positives for Jets despite Steelers loss
It might be a small consolation, but the Jets did look better at times than they did all of last season.
Justin Fields finished his day going 16 of 22 for 218 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 48 yards and two touchdowns. Breece Hall, in a contract year, rushed for 107 yards on 19 carries, and Garrett Wilson posted 95 yards and a touchdown from his seven receptions.
The Jets only scored 30+ points twice last season, and already have one tucked away under coordinator Tanner Engstrand, but that would mean a whole lot more had the Jets won.
So, plenty of positives, but winning continues to escape New York.
However, if it continues to play in this manner, I can't imagine the Jets being as low as No. 27 for too long in Edholm's rankings.
