Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez have already kicked off their wedding festivities in Venice, Italy, but not everyone is happy to have them there.
So far, they've kept the events to the Amazon founder's $500 million superyacht, Koru, with a foam party, per the Daily Mail's photos. Still, the June 28 ceremony is irking locals who have already placed protest banners with the messages, "No space for Bezos," "Veniceland: A playground fit for an oligarch," and, "If you can rent Venice for your wedding, you can pay more tax."
Federica Toninelli, a Venetian activist who spearheaded the "No Space for Bezos" movement, told the BBC, "Venice is being treated like a showcase, a stage and this wedding is the symbol of the exploitation of the city by outsiders... Venice is now just an asset. And this wedding is the symbol of the exploitation of the city by outsiders... Venice is now just an asset."

While most of the wedding plans have been shrouded in secrecy for months, Toninelli's group believes that Scuola Grande della Misericordia, a former school armory, is where the reception is set to take place on June 28.
"Bezos will never get to the Misericordia," she said at a protest earlier this month, per CNN. "We will block the canals, line the streets with our bodies, block the canals with inflatables, dinghies, boats."
Now, local Italian paper Il Gazzettino is claiming that due to "rising global tensions," the party at the Scuola Grande della Misericordia has been relocated to a venue in the Arsenale area of the city. The new location will reportedly make any protests easier to manage.
The reported tab for the week-long wedding celebration is $48 million, per the Daily Mail. This will be Bezos' second wedding. He was formerly married to MacKenzie Scott for 25 years. Sánchez was married to high-powered Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell for 14 years.
