The recovery of Chris Godwin will tell how many changes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers need to make this season.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have rolled through their fourth straight division title last season, but there's a reason why they were never able to take major steps as a championship contender.
Injuries.
Whether it was wide receiver Chris Godwin, or safety Antoine Winfield Jr., the Buccaneers were ravaged by injuries throughout the year. It's why one analyst believes that, despite some obvious spots on the depth chart, the Buccaneers' depth chart in 2025 could be clouded at one key position.
Bleacher Report writer Matt Holder predicts that Godwin's return to the team should push a fan favorite from last season into fighting for a roster spot at receiver.
"Unless Godwin suffers a setback in his rehab, there shouldn’t be many surprises coming from Tampa Bay’s offense this summer. Egbuka will likely become the team’s third wide receiver after being selected in the first round, leaving Jalen McMillan and Sterling Shepard to battle it out as the first wideout off the bench," Holder wrote.
The draft selection of Emeka Egbuka surprised many analysts on draft night simply because there were other needs that the team needed to address. They never did.
Now, with a loaded receiver group, the Buccaneers need to figure out how they are going to run everyone out.
And it shows just how open the depth chart is at positions that were once pretty much determined at one point. Wide receiver just happens to be the biggest question mark moving forward on the offensive side.
