I’m going on vacation next month — here are the Prime Day deals I snagged for my trip, starting at $8

You know how little kids feel in the weeks leading up to Christmas? The energy? The excitement? That's me right now. My family's annual New England adventure is coming up in August, and I cannot wait. Beach days, boat rides and seafood galore — what's not to love? Well, the expense of it all, for one. Traveling with a crew isn't cheap, so this week's Prime Day deals couldn't have come at a better time as I attempt to buy all those last-minute items for our trip without going broke.

Monday, I did a big Prime Day No. 1 order that included a bunch of my beloved curly haircare products, plus travel essentials I'll need when we hit the road in a few weeks. My current Vera Bradley duffle is showing its age, so I snagged a snazzy new one for less than $40. I also stocked up on these surprisingly effective mosquito repellent bracelets to keep the bugs at bay by the campfire.

If your family vacay is coming up too, check out these and more Prime Day deals that'll come in handy when you're traveling this summer (and beyond).

Bright colors and busy prints are not usually my style, but I am a sucker for a Vera Bradley bag. I've owned many versions of these weekender duffle bags over the years, and I just love that they fit a lot, they're not heavy, and I can toss them in the washing machine. Choosing a pattern is always the hardest part for me. I grabbed one of the print options, but it has since gone out of stock. This pretty light green, however, is still available at 42% off, and there are slightly larger versions available too.

I was going to buy the matching makeup case to use with my Vera Bradley duffle — until I came across this blue and white beauty, that is. It's giving vintage French flea market find, right?! Inside, there's a spacious open compartment to house all my travel-sized beauty products, plus a mesh zip pocket on the top for even more storage. If this print isn't your fave, there are more than 40 others to choose from.

Among the many toiletries I'll be stashing in the bag above? This top-rated leave-in that keeps my curls soft and frizz-free no matter the humidity.

Nearly 700 shoppers have given it a five-star rating, with one fan calling it "the cat's meow!" before adding: "By crunching a small amount through my hair, it keeps my hair fluffy yet neat. I thank the beautician who gave me my first tube. I have used sprays or mousses, but this is different because it leaves my hair soft and fluffy."

And in case you didn't know, Amazon stocks lots of travel-size products from top brands. Save yourself a trip to the drugstore and order your faves on sale now.

I'm gonna be honest, I already own more water bottles than any one person should. But you know what? This 20-ounce leak-resistant Stanley was just so cute, I couldn't resist adding it to my Amazon order. And hey, I drink a lot of water, so I know I'll use it. And anything that keeps me from having to spend $10 on a bottle of water at the airport? I'm sold.

My coworker has been raving about this eye mask for months, so I grabbed one on sale a while back. She was right; it is amazing. It completely blocks light, doesn't apply undue pressure to my eyes and I appreciate the adjustable strap. I'm too afraid to take my home one on vacation for fear of losing it, so I'm buying another for this summer's travels.

I definitely prefer physical books, but not if I have to lug them across state lines. For adventures that will involve lots of reading, I pack a Kindle. My 16-year-old recently co-opted the one I'd been using, so I upgraded to this new featherweight design that boasts six weeks of battery life.

If you want even more power, this model can go 12 weeks in between charges.

My secret for looking fresh-faced after a long flight or car ride? Spray a little of this magic onto my face throughout the trip. It provides instant hydration and leaves skin looking dewy and refreshed.

To call this product popular would be an understatement; it has more than 62,000 five-star ratings on Amazon. It's already an affordable beauty buy, but the sale price makes it a total no-brainer.

I would never spend $20 on flip-flops, which is why I stalk Havaianas like a maniac every Prime Day. They usually go on sale for less than $15, so I pounce and purchase them in all colors of the rainbow for friends and family. We wear them at the beach, to walk the boardwalk and around our Airbnb. They're squishy, the thong doesn't irritate in between the toes, and they rinse off easily with water. Prices vary by size and color.

Have I already purchased enough sunscreen to keep every person on Martha's Vineyard protected? Yes. Will I also be wearing this sun hat for even more protection every time I step outside? Also yes. As much as I love summer vacation, I have very low tolerance for the sun's scorching rays, so I keep myself as shaded as possible. This hat has a nice wide brim (that I can fold up when I'm indoors), plus is has UV protection built into the fabric.

Mosquitoes love me. I don't know why, but without fail, if I'm outside for more than a few minutes, I have itchy, swollen bites. I'll apply repellent lotion for longer hikes and woodsy adventures, but for shorter stints outdoors, I swear by these super odorous stretchy bracelets. They work like a charm to keep flying critters away, but don't require a full hose down when I'm back in the house.
