Houston Rockets Make Another Splash Signing with Clint Capela

Free agent center Clint Capela has agreed to a three-year, $21.5 million deal with the Houston Rockets, sources tell ESPN. Major frontcourt addition – and return to Houston for Capela. Capela first made a name for himself in Houston, establishing his reputation as one of the elite defensive centers in the league.

Capella gives the Rockets a three-man rotation as they already have Alperen Sengun and Steven Adams. Last season Houston used a lot of big man lineups with Sengun and Adams and I would expect more of the same this season.

Capela's standout attribute remains his ability to control the glass and protect the paint. His timing on shot contests is elite, and he consistently alters opponent shot selection simply by being in the vicinity. On the boards, he cleans the glass on both ends ending defensive stands and igniting offense with his outlet passes and strong positioning.

Capella will not be counted on to score a lot of points this season for the Rockets. He offers consistency at a position that often stumbles in transition-heavy schemes. With his pick‑and‑roll chemistry, roll threat, and rim protection, he complements rising stars helping the team blend athleticism and structure effectively.

His minutes may flex based on lineup matchups and pace, but his impact will be felt on nearly every possession. Houston welcomes Capella back as he will be counted on this season for rebounding and defense.
