Giants trade idea ships out former first-rounder for Malik Nabers replacement

The New York Giants picked up their first win of the season last week, defeating the 3-0 Los Angeles Chargers 21-18, but it came at a cost.

Up-and-coming star wideout Malik Nabers suffered a torn ACL during the game, and it couldn't come at a worse time for Big Blue, who are trying to develop their rookie quarterback, Jaxson Dart.

The Ole Miss product impressed in his debut, completing 13 of 20 passes for 111 yards while also adding 54 yards on the ground. However, if the Giants want to keep a good thing going, they will need additional help on offense to provide Dart with as many weapons as possible to keep him moving in the right direction.

Giants trade idea uses Kayvon Thibodeaux as a trade piece

New York should look to make a trade for another wide receiver, as after Nabers, there isn't much star power in the position group.

According to Bleacher Report's NFL Trade Big Board, former Oregon Duck and 2022 first-round pick Kayvon Thibodeaux is the Giants' top trade chip, and could be used to acquire another weapon on offense.

Kristopher Knox listed the Baltimore Ravens as a potential suitor.

"Now would be the perfect time to try getting a return for Thibodeaux, who has 2.5 sacks through four games. He is set to play on the fifth-year option in 2026, and the Giants could use another pass-catcher to help support Dart," wrote Knox.

"New York could expect a reasonable return for a 24-year-old pass-rusher with one-and-a-half years left on a rookie contract."

The Ravens have a few expendable weapons, as their offense mostly funnels through the running back and tight end positions. Zay Flowers is a star, but a player like Rashod Bateman could be a perfect addition for the Giants, and could even play opposite Nabers when he returns from injury next year.

Considering New York's embarrassment of riches at pass rusher, with Brian Burns and Abdul Carter locked down for the foreseeable future, Thibodeaux could certainly be an expendable piece as they look to improve their offense around Dart.
