Germany's Lufthansa Group to resume most Tel Aviv flights from August

Germany's Lufthansa Group intends to resume flights to Tel Aviv on August 1.

A company spokesman confirmed on Tuesday the resumption of flights, while stating that the security situation in the Middle East would continue to be closely monitored.

The German aviation group cancelled flights to Israel in early May after a missile from Yemen's Houthi rebels landed near Ben Gurion Airport.

The group's airlines include Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, ITA Airways, Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa Cargo.

Other destinations in the Middle East were also cancelled following the escalation of the Gaza war and the Israeli attacks on Iran.

The current picture is varied: Flights to Beirut have already resumed, with Amman in Jordan and Erbil in Iraq to follow on July 11.

Flights to Tehran have been suspended across the group until July 31, although the core Lufthansa airline has cancelled flights to the Iranian capital until August 17.

SWISS has decided to suspend flights to Tel Aviv until at least October 25, and those to Beirut until July 31.

Lufthansa's low-cost subsidiary Eurowings has also cancelled Tel Aviv flights until October 25, with services to Beirut unavailable until at least July 11.
