Florida high school football team forfeits game to Georgia opponent

The high school football forfeit bug has reached the Sunshine State and it impacted a game for its neighboring state of Georgia this upcoming Friday.

According to a Facebook post Monday morning by Lee County (Ga.) Trojans’ Touchdown Club, the school announced that its upcoming high school football game against North Florida Educational Institute is no longer taking place due to the Fighting Eagles forfeiting the contest. Below is the excerpt from Lee County’s post on social media:

Unfortunately, North Florida Educational Institute has forfeited their scheduled game against us this
Friday. Thank you to all our fans for your continued support. We’ll be back in action on Friday, September 26th at TCC.

North Florida Educational Institute (1-2) was coming off a 27-6 loss to Jacksonville Trinity Christian Academy (1-3), which had started the season 0-3 before picking up their first victory last week over the Fighting Eagles.

The Fighting Eagles had started off the 2025 season picking up a 32-20 win over Branford before losing consecutive games to Middleburg and Trinity Christian Academy, respectively.

Lee County (3-1) is currently ranked No. 7 via the latest Massey Ratings Georgia Top 25 Rankings. The Trojans started off the ’25 campaign winning three straight games over Warner Robins, Tift County and Hapeville Charter before losing their first game of the season in a 43-36 thriller to Colquitt County last week.

Next time the Trojans are slated to take the field is on Sep. 26 when they are scheduled to face Thomas County Central (4-0), the No. 3 ranked team in the state of Georgia.
