Florent Ghisolfi is set to leave his role as sporting director at AS Roma, as widely reported. Former Stade Rennais sporting director Frédéric Massara, who has already once been in the role at the Italian club, is linked with replacing the departing Frenchman, according to a report from L’Équipe.
Ghisolfi only left OGC Nice just over a year ago to take the role at Roma, however, his experience in the Italian capital looks set to be short-lived. It was a tumultuous season at Roma, marked by tensions, notably between Daniele De Rossi and the former CEO of the club, upon his arrival. Those tensions saw De Rossi leave his role as manager.
There was an uptick under Claudio Ranieri but it was not sufficient to allow Ghisolfi to remain in his position beyond this summer. Gianluca Di Marzio understands that the sporting dircector will leave the Serie A side by mutual consent. Whilst his departure has not yet been officialised, Roma are working on finding a replacement. L’Équipe understands that Massara, who lasted just one season at Rennes before departing last month, is one of the names being considered.
