Fever Coach Stephanie White Offers Caitlin Clark Update on Sunday

The Indiana Fever enter their upcoming home stretch of the WNBA regular season sitting at a .500 record (8-8), demonstrating flashes of offensive firepower but also suffering key setbacks on defense.

Under coach Stephanie White, Indiana has leaned on a balanced attack led by probable All-Stars Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, yet inconsistency has left the team hovering around the playoff cutline.

Second-year guard Caitlin Clark, whose arrival in 2024 completely reshaped the franchise, has now missed seven games this season, including the previous two with a groin injury.

During Sunday’s practice, a reporter asked coach White, "To what extent was Caitlin available today? Did she participate in everything?"

"Yeah, no, she didn’t participate in everything," White responded. "Still working her way. A lot of non‑contact shooting stuff. We’re just trying to progress slowly, making sure that we don’t have any setbacks. So mostly offensive, non‑contact work."

In nine appearances prior to her recent absence, Clark averaged 18.2 points, 8.9 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.

With Clark sidelined, however, the Fever had to sign guard Aari McDonald and waived veteran DeWanna Bonner in the process.

The team now faces a critical two-week stretch that includes rematches with the Las Vegas Aces, Los Angeles Sparks, Golden State Valkyries and Atlanta Dream.

While they're all home games, each team has already gotten the best of Indiana this season.

This doesn't even include a Commissioner's Cup final against the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday.

If Clark can resume contact work, a Tuesday return might still be on the table, but any prolonged absence could severely risk derailing the Fever’s playoff hopes.
