Fever Coach Stephanie White Makes Sophie Cunningham Statement After Punishment

The Indiana Fever are officially above .500, receiving a tremendous boost from Caitlin Clark

Clark returned to the lineup after missing five games due to injury and has since led Indiana to back-to-back wins over the Connecticut Sun and the New York Liberty

After snapping the Liberty's nine-game win streak, defeating the No. 1 team by double digits, the Fever had another phenomenal performance against the Sun.

On Tuesday, the Indiana Fever defeated the Connecticut Sun, 88-71.

Despite the highs for Indiana, things got chippy. During the matchup against the Sun, Clark was assessed a technical foul and later in the game Sophie Cunningham was ejected, receiving a flagrant foul penalty 2 from the officials.

Fever head coach Stephanie White was asked about the punishment for Cunningham after the game, delivering clear thoughts on the actions by the referees.

"I view it as a flagrant foul," White said.

In the fourth quarter of the game, with less than one minute to go and the Indiana Fever leading the Connecticut Sun, 87-70, Sophie Cunningham wreaked havoc.

Cunningham picked up a flagrant 2 foul for wrapping her arms around a Sun player almost dragging the opposing guard to the floor. With the issued punishment, the referees ruled the play as unnecessary and excessive.
