Ex Steelers Rival Reveals Honest Take on George Pickens Skipping Out on Youth Camp

A former rival AFC North wideout gave his honest opinion of George Pickens backing out of a local area youth football camp in Pittsburgh.

After the Pittsburgh Steelers traded wideout George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, a local area youth football camp reached out to him to confirm he was still good to attend this summer.

He answered affirmatively.

Then, he later backed out of the camp appearance, ruffling a lot of feathers in the Pittsburgh area.

On The Nightcap podcast, former Cincinnati Bengals wideout T.J. Houshmandzadeh had some harsh words for the former Steeler.

"He just don't give a damn," he said, "His representatives were like, 'Hey you need to do this.' He probably was like, 'No, I ain't doing it. I don't care. I ain't doing it. I don't care what you say. I'm not doing this. I think it's unfortunate because he's probably going to take a hit in his reputation. I don't think he gives a damn. But those kids, that's the part of it. They just going to be disappointed."

Thankfully for the youth football camp organizers, Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth was reportedly able to attend in Pickens' absence.

But it doesn't take away from the fact that Pickens went back on his word after committing twice to the event.

The Steelers traded for Seattle Seahawks receiver D.K. Metcalf earlier in the offseason, making Pickens expendable in their eyes. Pickens' time in Pittsburgh was not without issues, stemming from arguments with teammates to multiple suspensions.

Now, he's in Dallas, where he hopes to rejuvenate his career and start over.
