Johnny Manziel believes Shedeur Sanders' love of the game could propel him to the starting job with the Cleveland Browns.
If there's one Cleveland Browns quarterback in recent memory who had as much of a microscope over him as rookie Shedeur Sanders has this offseason, it's probably Johnny Manziel.
Cleveland drafted Manziel in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft after a stellar college career at Texas A&M.
Manziel brought all the hype but failed to deliver on the field.
The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner thinks Shedeur's love of the game will help him be successful as Manziel described on his Glory Daze podcast.
"He's going to an opportunity now in Cleveland with a quarterback situation that, honestly, he can come out of and win the job," Manziel said. "There's no doubt about that. I think he'll do well. I really do. I think the kid works really hard, I think he loves the game of ball. ... I think he'll be successful."
Sanders was taken in the fifth round by the Browns after a historic draft slide this offseason. He'll be battling it out with fellow rookie draft pick Dillon Gabriel, selected in the third round, and veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett.
Manziel played just 14 games across two seasons with the Browns with eight starts. He posted a 2-6 record with 1,675 yards while completing just 57 percent of his passes. He added seven touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Manziel was also sacked 19 times in 2015 alone.
Sanders hopes to catch on to prove the naysayers wrong after he fell all the way to the fifth round after being considered a sure-fire first-rounder and a top 10 pick by many.
