Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in former Arsenal, Lille OSC, and OGC Nice forward Nicolas Pépé (29), according to a report from Foot Mercato.
Pépé, after a short stint on loan at Nice and a year at Trabzonspor, has rediscovered form in Spain with Villarreal. The Ivory Coast international has seven goal contributions in 23 appearances in all competitions since his free transfer to the La Liga side last summer.
Pépé has been a key part of Villarreal’s push towards the UEFA Champions League places, especially in the last fortnight, registering three assists in his last two matches in La Liga. Villarreal, therefore, want to extend his contract, which is set to expire at the end of next season.
However, Foot Mercato understands that the former Arsenal winger could move back to England amid interest from Everton and Wolves. There is also interest from Saudi Arabia, who made an attempt to sign him last season before the Ivorian eventually opted to join Villarreal.
