Television’s biggest awards night has arrived! Stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze kicked off the 77th Emmy Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, Calif., on Sunday night, hosting the awards show for the first time in front of a star-studded audience.
Apple TV+’s Severance leads the pack with a total of 27 Emmy nominations. HBO Max’s The Penguin follows closely behind with 24 total nominations, and tied for third most nods are The White Lotus and The Studio with a total of 23 nominations. As an Emmy Awards newcomer, The Studio made history with the most-nominated freshman comedy, surpassing Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso. Also new to the Emmy Awards scene is The Pitt, which made an impression with 13 Emmy nominations for its first year.
Bargatze himself, 46, was nominated for an Emmy for his 2024 Netflix stand-up special, Your Friend, Nate Bargatze.
The best of the 2024-25 television season will be revealed as the awards show progresses into the evening. Stick with Yahoo for the latest updates on the winners and the fellow nominees in each category.
