Dolphins, NFL investigate domestic violence claims against Tyreek Hill

Sept. 10 (UPI) -- The incident became a viral moment, with social media users praising the protesters for confronting Trump so publicly. It also reignited debates about his handling of dissent and the optics of using federal force in civilian spaces.Trump's dinner at Joe's Seafood in D.C. turned into a political flashpoint when protesters from the activist group CodePink disrupted the evening with chants of:"Free D.C.! Free Palestine! Trump is the Hitler of our time!"The demonstration began as Trump entered the restaurant with Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Protesters waved miniature Gaza flags and confronted him directly inside the dining room. Trump reportedly stared at them, gestured toward security, and was caught on video saying, "Get them out," as Secret Service agents escorted the group outside.The protest was aimed at Trump's federalization of D.C.'s police force and his deployment of National Guard troops, which he claimed made the city safer. Ironically, the protest undermined the very message he was trying to send-that D.C. was now a "safe zone" under his leadership.The fallout didn't stop at the restaurant door. Joe's Seafood was bombarded with one-star reviews online, many mocking Trump's presence and accusing the restaurant of hosting a "fascist regime." One reviewer quipped, "I prefer my seafood without the fascism".The NFL and Miami Dolphins are discussing and investigating domestic violence claims recently made against wide receiver Tyreek Hill, coach Mike McDaniel said Wednesday.

McDaniel addressed the situation during a news conference in Miami Gardens, Fla. It is standard policy for the NFL to review such matters.

The allegations came from Hill's estranged wife, Keeta Vaccaro, and surfaced through filings related to the couple's ongoing divorce. Vaccaro alleged eight separate incidents of domestic violence in the documents, which were obtained by TMZ.

A court hearing on the matter is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. EDT Monday in Miami.

Hill denied the claims through his attorney. Vaccaro, who married Hill in November 2023, filed a petition for divorce April 8, a day after police reported a domestic dispute between the couple.

Hill has not been criminally charged, but the NFL could to suspend him. He has a history of off-the-field legal disputes.

McDaniel said the Dolphins remain focused on their Week 2 opponent, the New England Patriots.

"I'm aware of it [and] the organization is," McDaniel said when asked about the allegations made against Hill. "We've been in communication with the NFL and we're going to let the process play out.

"As far as our team's focus, it is 100% on the Patriots and that's what it should be -- a division opponent and on the heels of an undesirable outing. We're firmly there."

Vaccaro's attorney, Evan Marks, said that his client swore her allegations were true through a verified proposed amended petition.

"Evidence will be presented to a jury, who will then decide whether Ms. Vaccaro is entitled to be compensated for the damages that she sustained due to the conduct of Mr. Hill ...." Marks said.

Hill's attorney, Julius B. Collins, said that Vaccaro's allegations were an attempt to "shake Mr. Hill down." Collins also said Hill previously gave Vaccaro $500,000 "to do as she wished and needed" and volunteered another $100,000 to purchase a vehicle, an offer adopted by the court.

"The shakedown is apparent," Collins said. "Ms. Vaccaro wants an unreasonable amount of money that we believe she knows that she is not entitled to and her counsel is excessively billing her hoping that Mr. Hill will be ordered by the court to pay her legal fees.

"As the memorandum outlines, Ms. Vaccaro's counsel requested that Mr. Hill pay fees to him and his team in the amount of $1,100,857.51. The original petition for divorce was filed on April 8, 2025. It is only Sept 8, 2025, and nothing substantial has transpired in the divorce proceedings," he said in a statement prepared Monday.

"It's not surprising that these new allegations comes only after the honorable court ordered that Ms. Vaccaro pay her own attorney's fees and expenses from the $500,000.00 given to her by Mr. Hill," Collins said.

"Ultimately, the honorable court reduced Ms. Vaccaro's counsel's hourly rate for being unreasonable, reduced several fee entries as being excessive, reduced Ms. Vaccaro's counsel's billable hours and invoices, and reduced Ms. Vaccaro's counsel's prospective fees. It is our opinion that the actions taken by Ms. Vaccaro and her counsel is about money, not the truth."

Hill, 31, totaled four catches for just 40 yards in the Dolphins' season-opening loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday in Indianapolis. The 10-year veteran is in the second season of a restructured three-year, $90 million contract.
