According to the report, the real leadership of Flotilla is composed of individuals with documented ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Sumud Flotilla, which is taking Swedish activist Gretha Thumberg with celebrities and politicians to Gaza, has been revealed to be linked to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood, a new report by Diaspora Minister Amichai Chikli exposed on Tuesday.

According to the report, the senior leadership of the flotilla is composed of individuals with documented ties to the two organizations.

"Not surprisingly, to mask the extremist ideology underpinning the Global Summud Flotilla (GSF), its Steering Committee showcased Greta Thunberg as a cover figure. Yet Thunberg is far from being a central player," he stated.

The report explained that one of the key figures in the flotilla is Saif Abu Keshk, who is a Palestinian based in Barcelona and a member of the flotilla Steering Committee.

"In June 2025, Egyptian authorities arrested Abu Keshk, who was leading the 'March to Gaza' campaign in collaboration with Yahia Sarri, a prominent Muslim Brotherhood cleric in Algeria with direct ties to Hamas," Chikli added.

Direct link to Hamas

The report reveals that Sarri was in direct contact with senior Hamas figures, including Zaher Jabarin and Osama Hamdan, during a conference held in Algeria to mark the 68th anniversary of the Algerian Revolution.

"In January 2024, Sarri met with senior Hamas official Basem Naim, the Head of Hamas’ Department of International Relations. This meeting paved the way for Sarri’s collaboration with campaigns designed to serve Hamas: the March to Gaza and the Global Sumud Flotilla," the report reads.

Among other members of the flotilla that have links with Hamas or the Muslim Brotherhood are Muhammad Nadir al-Nuri, a Malaysian activist who founded several Hamas-controlled projects in Gaza; Marouan Ben Guettaia, one of the participants in the flotilla with links to Sarri; and Wael Nawar, a member of the flotilla committee who has documented meetings with representatives of Hamas and other designated terrorist organizations.

"The so-called 'Freedom Flotilla' is nothing more than a propaganda tool for Hamas jihadists," the Diaspora Ministry added. "Its leaders and spokespersons openly maintain ties with Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and terror organizations. European MPs boarding these ships should ask themselves: are you standing for peace - or giving cover to terror?"
