DeShaun Foster fired as UCLA Bruins coach

UCLA head coach DeShaun Foster was fired following an 0-3 start to the season, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. He went 5-10 over the past two seasons.

Foster finished his time at UCLA after going winless to start 2025. The Bruins needed a reboot after Saturday's 35-10 loss to New Mexico at the Rose Bowl. This is definitely a low point for UCLA, who haven't found consistency in the Big Ten.

Foster got the opportunity at his alma mater after Chip Kelly left for Ohio State. He signed a five-year, $15 million contract with UCLA in February 2024. He took $3 million in his first year, which increased by $100k annually. Overall, UCLA’s football coach came at a steep discount for the university. It was roughly half of Kelly's deal before he departed from Westwood.

UCLA gave a relatively affordable buyout structure. Foster will be owed 70% of the remaining salary.
