Kentucky will have a new starting quarterback against Eastern Michigan.
According to multiple reports, Cutter Boley will start at QB for the Wildcats against the Eagles. Zach Calzada started the first two games of the season for the Wildcats but suffered an injury to his right throwing shoulder late in the team’s Week 2 loss to Ole Miss. Boley replaced him for the last two series of the game.

Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said on Wednesday’s SEC teleconference that Boley had been taking the first-team reps in practice.
Calzada has completed fewer than 50% of his passes so far this season. He was 10-of-23 passing for 85 yards and an interception in Kentucky’s ugly 24-16 win over Toledo in Week 1. In Week 2, Calzada was 15-of-30 for 149 yards.
Calzada is a familiar name to SEC football fans. He started his college career at Texas A&M and transferred to Kentucky for his seventh and final season of eligibility in 2025. He played the first three seasons of his career with the Aggies and started 10 games in 2021 before transferring.
He transferred to Auburn, but suffered a shoulder injury and didn’t play in 2022. After one season at Auburn, Calzada transferred to FCS-level Incarnate Word and was the team’s starting quarterback for two seasons. IN 2024, he threw for nearly 3,800 yards and 35 TDs.
