Crowe Global has appointed Cynthia Butera as its in-house legal counsel, with effect from 1 July 2025.

Butera, who has a 25-year tenure as a licensed New York attorney, will bring her experience in commercial litigation, contract drafting, negotiation, and governance to the global accounting network.

Previously serving as Crowe Global's outside general counsel as a partner through her partnership with a national law firm, Butera will now leverage her expertise internally to enhance operational risk management, governance, and legal guidance across the network.

Her background includes serving as an auditor and licensed CPA, with legal focus on the representation of accountants and accounting firms.

Throughout her career, Butera has provided litigation services and consultancy in ethics, risk management, and professional responsibility to the accounting profession.

Crowe Global CEO Kamel Abouchacra said: “Cynthia’s appointment marks a key step in strengthening our legal and risk infrastructure as we continue to expand in scale, complexity, and ambition.”

Butera noted: “I am excited to continue to support the network, in a full-time capacity, as General Counsel. This role allows me to work closely with leadership, setting strategy to minimise risk and enable growth opportunities on a global basis."

Crowe Global, comprising more than 200 independent accounting and advisory firms, operates in more than 150 countries. The firm generated global revenues of $5.8bn in 2024.

Crowe UK, part of the Crowe Global network, promoted Mark Holborow to the role of Insolvency and Restructuring Partner, effective 1 July 2025.
