Cleveland Browns fans are holding out hope that Dillon Gabriel will turn the season around

This is a rarity: fan confidence remained exactly at 62% from last week to this week. You can think of it like offsetting penalties. On one hand, we committed the infraction of losing to the Detroit Lions with more horrible offense and special teams plays. Countering that, though, the Browns have made a change at quarterback with rookie Dillon Gabriel, and the team also went out and got a new left tackle in veteran Cam Robinson. Fans are certainly holding out hope that Gabriel can be the short-term savior of the season, and give this team a chance to compete with its impressive defense. Our opponents this week, the Minnesota Vikings, have 44% confidence from their fanbase in the direction of their team.

We asked two other questions to fans this week, the first of which asked what the Browns’ record will be over these next five games, with opponents that include the Vikings, Steelers, Dolphins, Patriots, and Jets. Combined, those teams have a record of 8-12. However, when you look at the overall picture, you see a Vikings team that is handicapped at quarterback, and a Steelers team that has faced some weak competition — and the AFC East besides the Bills is looking pretty weak. 33% of Browns fans think Cleveland will win three of those games, followed by 29% seeing two games, 16% seeing four games, 13% seeing one game, and 6% seeing five games, and 3% seeing zero games. If the majority (3-2 during the stretch) comes true, then Cleveland would have a 4-5 record near the mid-way point of the season.

Our other question asks what Browns fans thought of the team trading for OT Cam Robinson. 71% of fans say it’s a nice move that could help turn things around, while 29% say, “sorry, we have too many holes on offense.”
