Chicago Sky Coach Makes Unexpected Hailey Van Lith Move Against Liberty

The Chicago Sky are one of the most popular teams in the WNBA because of emerging stars like Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. They added to their star power by drafting TCU guard Hailey Van Lith in the 2025 WNBA Draft.

After selecting her with the No. 11 overall pick, however, Sky head coach Tyler Marsh did not play her very much in the season opener. She subbed in against the Fever when the game was out of reach, scoring four points in four minutes.

Before the team's second game against the New York Liberty, Marsh did not give any indication that Van Lith was going to see an increase in her role. However, she subbed in early in the first quarter of Thursday's matchup.

Marsh came under fire during the Fever game and in the days that followed for not playing Van Lith more. Fans were adamant about wanting her in the rotation, so they were both stunned and excited when he unexpectedly put her in.

Several fans took to social media to convey their surprise and talk about the impact that Van Lith is already having.

"HAILEY VAN LITH IN THE GAME STAND UP," one fan wrote.

"Hailey Van Lith aura so strong that they scored as soon as she got into the game," another added.

"Thank you Tyler Marsh for playing Hailey Van Lith," a fan responded. "She needs to be playing more."

"Hailey Van Lith is cold asf," another fan added. "She so feisty with it lol"
