For a long time, Quentin Johnson has seemed like lost potential.
The Los Angeles Chargers' wide receiver clearly had the talent, but he couldn't quite put the pieces together.
Too often, it seemed, Johnston was dropping a pass when the Chargers simply needed him to catch it.
But this season, Johnston has flipped the narrative.
He's the first Chargers player with three touchdowns through two games since Antonio Gates in 2014, according to ESPN.

And Johnston looks like the WR he was always supposed to be.
"Johnston has 150 receiving yards and three touchdowns through two games, leading the team in both categories," writes ESPN's Kris Rhim. "He is the first Chargers player with three touchdowns through L.A.'s first two games since tight end Antonio Gates in 2014. Despite Johnston's fluctuating play through two seasons, he has remained one of quarterback Justin Herbert's favorite targets. Johnston should continue to be productive this season."

The Chargers themselves have begun to undergo an offensive transformation. They're finally letting Herbert show off the full extent of his powers, including more throwing down the field than ever before.
That can only mean good things for Johnston, a great athlete who also can reel in some tough contested catches. Herbert can finally trust Johnston to throw him the football and count on him to catch it.
Johnston may just keep this hot stretch rolling.
