The New York Giants put up huge passing numbers on the Cowboys last week in a close loss, but they’ll have a tougher time this week against the Chiefs defense both on the ground and through the air. Another new data point from the Giants was that rookie Cam Skattebo took over as the lead back, while Tyrone Tracy reverted to the receiving back role.
Skattebo ended up rushing 11 times for 45 yards and a touchdown, while catching 2-of-3 targets for 14 yards. It was a good start to his lead back role, but he’ll get a much tougher matchup this week. The Chiefs have played well against Omarion Hampton and Saquon Barkley through two weeks, holding them to a combined 3.6 yards per carry. And if the 5.5-point favorite Chiefs can get out to a lead, we’ll likely see him split work with Tyrone Tracy in the passing down role.
Below, we’ll go over Cam Skattebo’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 3.
Fantasy Football analysis: Giants, RB, Cam Skattebo
There is a real chance Skattebo has just won the every down role for now, as his usage went up as the game went along last week. Or, we continue to see a split that makes it tough to rely on him in fantasy. This week, the matchup is tough, but all signs point toward him at least getting a bunch of high leverage touches, especially around the goal line.

Start. I’m putting Skattebo in the RB3 tier for now. His touchdown upside is quite good, while his efficiency in this game is not. I expect around 15 touches from the rookie, which is enough.

Start.
