Caitlin Clark’s Strong Message About Steph Curry Draws Major Attention

While it’s difficult for any player to truly replicate the style of Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark has come closer than most.

She still has a long road ahead to build a legacy that rivals Curry’s, but there’s no denying she’s off to an exceptional start.

Now in just her second WNBA season, Clark has already made a massive impact on women’s basketball, drawing constant attention and helping elevate the league to new heights.

On Thursday night, ahead of the Fever’s matchup with the Golden State Valkyries—who share an arena with Curry and the Warriors—a reporter asked Clark about Curry’s influence on her game.

“I grew up watching Steph," Clark said. "To me, he’s one of the greatest basketball players of all time… I think he’s changed the way basketball is being played. Maybe at times, both of us—me and him—make kids think they should just go out and chuck a bunch of threes, but that’s what makes the game so exciting.”

Clark has prided herself on being a threat the moment she crosses half court, making her nearly impossible to guard when her shot is falling.

That was on full display just under a week ago against the New York Liberty, when she erupted for 25 points in the first half and drained three three-pointers in the span of roughly 30 seconds—something Curry has made a career of doing from beyond the arc.

Entering Thursday, the Fever hold a 6–5 record and sit third in the Eastern Conference. Clark is averaging 21.3 points, 8.7 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game, while shooting 44.7% from the field and an impressive 40.0% from three-point range—an especially remarkable mark given the volume of threes she takes.

The former Iowa star is on track for her second consecutive All-Star appearance and currently holds the second-best odds to win WNBA MVP, according to "DraftKings Sportsbook."
