Boston’s Jordan Walsh ejected from Summer League game after shoving Pelle Larsson into Celtics brass

It’s nearly impossible to foul out of NBA Summer League games, both given how things are set up in Las Vegas and the rather relaxed nature surrounding the event.

Jordan Walsh, however, appeared to take things a bit too seriously on Monday.

The Boston Celtics forward got into a brief shoving match and sent Miami Heat guard Pelle Larsson flying into the courtside seats during the second quarter of their matchup at Cox Pavilion in Nevada on Monday night. Almost immediately, Walsh was ejected.

And to make matters worse, Walsh shoved Larsson right into Celtics general manager Brad Stevens and new team owner Bill Chisholm.

The technical came just a few plays after Walsh picked up his first of the night, which came from him taunting after making a contested layup at the other end. Larsson also received a technical for his retaliation.

Players can pick up 10 fouls before actually fouling out of Summer League games in Las Vegas, so it doesn’t happen very often. But a pair of technicals, just like in a real game, still results in an ejection. So when Walsh crossed the line a second time, officials didn't hesitate to throw him out.

Walsh had a team-high 13 points when he was ejected after he opened the night shooting 5-of-8 from the field. The 21-year-old averaged 1.6 points and 1.3 rebounds in just shy of eight minutes off the bench for the Celtics last season, his second with the franchise. He was selected with the No. 38 overall pick out of Arkansas in 2023.

While it’s unclear how this will impact him moving forward, getting tossed from an exhibition game in front of your bosses while you are trying to play your way into the rotation is never a good idea.
