BISMARCK, N.D. — Marcella Maus just keeps getting faster.
Maus, a seventh grader for the Jamestown High School cross-country team, set a new personal best time of 21:07 to place sixth at the Skyhawk Invite at McDowell Dam in Bismarck on Saturday.
Isabelle Maddock, Layna Hoffer and Hattie Fitzgerald weren't far behind the team leader finishing with times of 21:47, 21:50 and 21:57 to place seventh, eighth and ninth respectively.
The Blue Jay girls placed first at the invite, scoring 21 total points. Five of the Jays' top-10 ran a 5K personal best. Four others ran a season-best 5K times.
Jamestown's boys team was led by senior Jaydyn Velek with a time of 18:13. Freshman Tristan Champagne's time of 18:35 helped him maintain his top-two position. Six of the nine Blue Jay runners turned in times below the 20-minute mark.
As a team, the boys placed second out of six competing teams with 52 points. Five of the Jays' runners placed in the top-20.
