Tampa Bay Buccaneers star quarterback Baker Mayfield has sent a new message to the Houston Texans and their safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson. During Monday night’s game, Mayfield and Gardner-Johnson had an argument. Now, after the 20-19 nail-biter win over Houston, things are heating up.

On Wednesday, when a reporter asked about his mindset amid their heated exchanges on the field, Mayfield delivered a terse reply that seems less an explanation and more a warning:

"We don’t take any s**t. That's about it."

The tension between the two has been simmering for years, stretching back to their collegiate days, Mayfield at Oklahoma and Gardner-Johnson at Florida.

More recently, their verbal sparring escalated during a crucial fourth-quarter play when Mayfield's clutch 16-yard scramble was halted by Gardner-Johnson, sparking a brief but fiery face-off.

That confrontation spilled onto social media the next day, with Mayfield posting snapshots of their on-field banter captioned, "Built different. 10 toes down." 

Gardner-Johnson fired back, replying, "Boy this cute but still ringless."

With Mayfield's latest comment, it's clear neither player intends for this rivalry to fade quietly.

Now, all eyes are on Gardner-Johnson. Given how things have escalated, a response seems inevitable. The only questions are when and how he will strike back.
