Apple Prime Day deals will save you $150 on the new MacBook Air

Welcome to the ongoing cavalcade of Amazon Prime Day deals on day 2 (it's a four-day event this year, believe it or not). So far, it's been an incredibly strong week for Apple Prime Day deals, not the least of which is the 2025 13-inch MacBook Air. That's the one with the new M4 chip, and it's down to $849 at Amazon right now. It's not the lowest price we've ever seen, but it comes close — and it's way cheaper than buying it at the Apple Store. With great battery life, a super-sharp display and a lightweight design, it's a solid pick for work, school or just binge-watching shows on the couch.

I've been using MacBooks since 2007, and I'll never go back. They're sleek, fast, and built to last. If you've been thinking about upgrading — or just want to get a head start on back-to-school shopping (ugh, is it that time of year already?) — this is a good time to jump on it.

This model, powered by Apple's ultrafast M4 chip, is a 2025 release, so we're beyond surprised to find it on sale at a $150 discount. Seriously: It's one of the thinnest, lightest and, well, best laptops out there — can you really go wrong? (Spoiler alert: no.)

Why is this a good deal? 💰

This MacBook Air is an impressive $150 off, pushing it down to one of the lowest prices it's ever been for this 256GB model. Typically, it's only the older MacBooks that see big discounts. While it's not the absolute lowest price we've ever seen, it's still a rare and worthy deal indeed.

Why do I need this? 🤔

When it comes to high-performance laptops, the MacBook Air is always in the conversation. Not only does it have truly impressive specs, but it comes with a Liquid Retina Display that makes everything from text to colors especially clear and crisp.

There's a front-facing camera for video calls and meetings that captures content in 1080p resolution — that's high-def. If you have an iPhone or iPad, all three devices will work together seamlessly: Transfer content from one to the other with ease, or open a webpage on your laptop and keep reading on your phone when you leave the house.

The Air gets up to 18 hours of battery life on a single charge, and at only 2.7 pounds, it's easy to grab and go. Apple's M4 chip is particularly efficient, giving this computer some of the best staying power of any Apple device on the market.

What reviewers say 💬

This model has been getting a lot of love from Amazon reviewers, not unexpected for a MacBook.

Pros 👍

"Everything I need in a laptop," raved this five-star Apple adopter. "The size is perfect, it's lightweight, but it's super fast and powerful. I am absolutely in love with the color, and surprisingly, I don't get a lot of smudging that I see on the outside, [which] I did previously with other laptops. The only thing I am disappointed in is that I did not get a MacBook sooner."

Another happy customer upgraded from their older MacBook Air. "I sold my 2019 Intel MacBook Pro and upgraded to the M4 MacBook Air, and I've never been happier. This thing is super portable, super zippy, super lovely. It's been such a dream setting it up as this thing zooms so cool, fast and quiet. I'm in love."

Think you're too old to switch to Apple? Not so! "My first Apple product purchased in my 77 years," shared this convert. "It starts up in about 16 seconds, and moving around the internet and files is pretty much the same as my other PCs. I do a lot of photography, and it supports that quickly and efficiently. ... Battery life is about four times longer than my now-not-working high-powered ASUS Zephyrus laptop, which bugged me a lot."

Cons 👎

One thing to check before buying is how much storage you'll need (I use an external hard drive, but it is one more thing to carry around). Luckily, the 512GB option is also $150 off. "I needed [a] 512 GB internal drive. My software occupies more than [two-thirds] of the disk space."

If you're switching over from a PC, there will be a bit of a learning curve, though for this five-star fan, it was very much worth it. "At first, the OS was a little bit frustrating, as I use a lot of charts, folders on [Microsoft] Office and now I need to use Apple Numbers unless I purchase another MS Office for the new Mac. Numbers is very different, making and using charts, but I am getting the hang of it."

Such a low price for such a powerful (and new) laptop doesn't happen often, so if you've been on the fence about upgrading, consider this your sign to do it.

Need a bit more storage? The 512GB version is calling your name.

Everything the base model has (even the $150 off) with twice the storage.
