The Golden State Warriors looked to regain control of their second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves on their home court.
Unfortunately for the Warriors, they were unable to do so as the Timberwolves made a comeback in the fourth quarter to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
This was a disappointing ending for the Warriors as they were able to carry the lead into the fourth quarter but they were unable to hold onto it despite incredible performances from both Jimmy Butler and Jonathan Kuminga.
Of course, the Timberwolves’ comeback effort was mainly in part to a great performance from Julius Randle, who recorded a triple-double, along with Anthony Edwards who turned it on in the second half.
Edwards finished the game with 36 points, 28 of which came in the second half, to go along with four rebounds and four assists as he helped lead the Timberwolves to a crucial victory to give them a 2-1 series lead.
After the game, Edwards credited Kuminga for his motivation in the second half.
“When Kuminga dunked on me, that got me going,” Edwards told the media after Game 3 about what motivated him in the second half.
Of course, Kuminga threw down a poster on Edwards with a little more than four minutes remaining in the third quarter, motivating the Timberwolves star guard for the rest of the game.
Edwards would eventually throw down a poster dunk of his own later on over Warriors center Kevon Looney en route to his 36-point performance, which is something Minnesota needed in the victory.
This was Edwards’ best performance thus far in the second round after he had struggled in Game 1 and 2.
In Game 1, the star guard scored 23 points despite a cold shooting night and he backed that up with a 20-point performance in Game 2 despite missing time in the game due to an ankle injury.
With Edwards now in rhythm after his slow start in the series, the Warriors will have to lock down on him defensively in a must-win Game 4 on Monday.
