Angel Reese Sends Clear Message to WNBA After League's Important Announcement

The Chicago Sky are looking to make amends for their 93-58 blowout loss to Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever in their season opener on Saturday. Right now, the Sky are focused on their next matchup, which comes in the form of their first home game of the new campaign on Thursday against the defending champions, New York Liberty

Angel Reese got to speak to the media on Tuesday during practice as Chicago prepares to battle Sabrina Ionescu and Co. However, the hottest subject in her interview centered around the league's current investigation of an incident that transpired during the Sky-Fever game.

The WNBA announced on Sunday that they have launched an official investigation into "alleged hateful fan comments" during the game. The league also condemned "racism, hate, and discrimination in all forms" in its statement.

While the WNBA did not provide the details of the incident, Fever reporter Chloe Peterson revealed that there were allegations of fans at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis directing "racial comments" toward Reese.

On Tuesday, Reese addressed the issue directly by saying that the WNBA and the Sky organization have "done a great job supporting me" amid this recent controversy and that she's "had communication from everyone."

When asked how she feels about the league's response to the incident, the Sky All-Star decided to send a clear message.

"Yeah, obviously, like I said, they understand that this is the priority," Reese said. "Obviously, there's no place for this. And they preached, I think, two days before they put out no hate, no speech.

"And obviously, the women in this league, they know that and know there's no space for that. And I believe that every player in this league deserves to be treated with respect and want to come to work and just have fun and have a great environment to work at.

"So I think they've done a great job putting that out. And we're obviously just going to respond as they need to."

Fans are now waiting for the result of the WNBA's investigation, which the league should reveal sooner rather than later.

However, what is clear is that the mere fact that the WNBA acted swiftly to address this issue is something that has not gone unnoticed, particularly for Reese and the Sky.
