Chicago’s early-season struggles have been hard to ignore.
Through 14 games, the Sky are fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 4-10 record, having averaged just 77.9 points per game (12th in WNBA) while surrendering 88.2 points per game (13th).
In the midst of all of that, Angel Reese, the Sky’s No. 7 pick last year, decided to take the fight for recognition straight to social media.
Reese reshared an Instagram post on Friday in which teammate Ariel Atkins provided commentary for a light-hearted remote-control car race pitting Reese’s pink, No. 5 car against Kamilla Cardoso’s yellow, No. 10 vehicle.
"What’s up, I’m Ariel Atkins, and I’m your play by play for the race to Indy ... We got Angel vs. Kamilla. The car is cute, let’s see who wins," Atkins said, setting the scene for a friendly showdown designed to drive All-Star votes.
At the bottom of Reese’s post, she reminded followers that it was the last day to "double vote" and show support ahead of the WNBA’s final ballot push.
Reese arrived in Chicago fresh off an LSU career that saw her claim back-to-back first-team All-American honors in 2023 and 2024 and SEC Player of the Year as a senior.
With the Sky, she’s continued her success, earning All-Rookie selection last season, averaging 13.6 points and a league-leading 13.1 rebounds per game.
In May of this year, she became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 500 points and 500 rebounds (38 games), surpassing Tina Charles.
She currently leads the league in rebounds per game at 11.9, while averaging 11.3 points, 3.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
As Chicago looks to build off a recent 97-86 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday, Reese has taken matters into her own hands to secure her second All-Star appearance.
