Training camps are taking place across the WNBA, and the Indiana Fever seem bullish on what they have going for them this season.
They went 20-20 last season and were swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Connecticut Sun during Ciatlin Clark's rookie season. Now, they will be a little more seasoned, and they have a promising core in place.
That core includes Aliyah Boston, an emerging forward/center who is just 23 years of age.
Clark posted a photo of herself on Instagram in her Fever uniform, and Boston reacted with a supportive comment.
"Swag level on 100 rn," Boston wrote.
Boston averaged 14.0 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.2 blocks and 0.9 steals a game last season while shooting 52.9% from the field. Her inside play at 6-foot-5 and 220 pounds has been a key to Indiana's rise over the last year or two.
She was named the Rookie of the Year in 2023 with averages of 14.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks a game.
She was previously a star for the South Carolina Gamecocks, a team she led to the women's NCAA championship in 2022. That year, she won the John R. Wooden Award, Naismith College Player of the Year award, Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award, AP Player of the Year award and the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player award.
This season, the Fever hope to add Makayla Timpson, a forward they drafted out of Florida State whose rebounding and defense could take them to the next level. She will have to battle others in order to make the opening day roster.
