Alexander Isak Given Green Light by Slot Ahead of Atletico Clash

Liverpool open their Champions league campaign at Anfield on Wednesday against Atletico Madrid. Coach Arne Slot confirmed Alexander Isak will be part of the squad.

Isak Back but Limited

Slot ruled out full game for the Swedish forward.

"There's definitely chance because he's in the squad. But I’m 100% sure he won’t play 90 minute. Still, he's available" Slot told reporters.

Atletico a Tough Test

The Dutch coach praised Diego Simeone’s side:

"It’s always difficult to face Atletico. They have been strong for many years under Simeone, winning La liga twice against Real Madrid & Barcelona. Their mentality and collective strength make them very hard opponents"

Focus on New Signings

Slot also spoke about Florian Wirtz and the pressure on Liverpool’s summer recruits. He pointed out critics who highlight the 450m sterling pound spending without considering £300m in sales.

"These players cost money but they now play alongside others of the same value. If we sold Szoboszlai tomorrow, he’d also be worth £100m" Slot explained.
